About Dentalux
Dentalux is the oral care own brand of the discount retailer Lidl. Lidl has promoted it with its own TV campaigns – a 2014 spot for the Dentalux toothpaste focused on how the product is used rather than on the packaging. The range sold across Lidl's European markets covers toothpastes, mouthwashes, children's toothpastes and other oral care basics.
Fluoride from paste to floss
Our 4 Dentalux entries come from several Lidl markets: a toothpaste ('Paste'), the Dentalux Complex 5 toothpaste, a Portuguese-labelled dental floss (Fio dentário) and a French alcohol-free 8-in-1 mouthwash in light mint. AROMA and SODIUM FLUORIDE appear in all 4; SODIUM SACCHARIN, SORBITOL, PROPYLENE GLYCOL and AQUA in 3; LIMONENE, GLYCERIN, HYDRATED SILICA, ZINC CHLORIDE and the blue colourant CI 42090 in 2.
None of the 4 declares fragrance (PARFUM), parabens, silicones or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Read the market label
Because Dentalux is sold under the same name in many countries, the formula behind a given pack can depend on the market – compare lists rather than names. In oral care the flavour is declared as AROMA, not PARFUM, and the fluoride content is usually stated in ppm on the pack; the floss's wax appears as CERA MICROCRISTALLINA.
