About Laboratoires Gilbert

Laboratoires Gilbert is a French pharmaceutical and hygiene company whose origins go back to a small Paris pharmacy in 1904. It is headquartered in Hérouville-Saint-Clair near Caen, with its cosmetics activity based in Plouédern, Brittany, and works in hygiene, family health and cosmetics – brands include Physiodose, Marimer and Neutraderm. Its baby care range includes a Liniment Oléo-Calcaire, and all 6 entries in our database are versions of this liniment, some sold as Liniderm.

One product, six listings

The 6 Gilbert entries carry no category tags, but every name is a liniment oléo-calcaire. Six ingredients appear in all of them: OLEA EUROPAEA FRUIT OIL (olive oil), CALCIUM HYDROXIDE, PROPYLENE CARBONATE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, STEARALKONIUM HECTORITE and RICINUS COMMUNIS SEED OIL.

No formula declares fragrance, parabens, silicones or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).

The classic two plus stabilisers

A traditional liniment is olive oil and limewater; in INCI these appear as OLEA EUROPAEA FRUIT OIL and CALCIUM HYDROXIDE in AQUA. STEARALKONIUM HECTORITE with PROPYLENE CARBONATE forms a gel that keeps the emulsion from separating, which is why it appears in these stabilised versions. Several entries are the same liniment sold under the Gilbert and Liniderm names, so expect near-identical lists.
