About Life Brand
Life Brand is the private label of Shoppers Drug Mart, the Canadian pharmacy chain founded in 1962 by the pharmacist Murray Koffler and based in Toronto. Loblaw acquired Shoppers Drug Mart in 2014, after which Life Brand products also appeared in Loblaw grocery stores. Our 5 entries are a gentle skin cleanser, a hand & nail lotion, an original moisturising body wash, a turmeric witch hazel facial scrub and a shea & cocoa butter hand soap.
Pharmacy-shelf basics
Hand creams and body wash are the categories attached to the 5 Life Brand products, which also include a cleanser, a scrub and a hand soap. GLYCERIN appears in all 5, PARFUM, SODIUM CHLORIDE and CITRIC ACID in 3, and GLYCINE SOJA OIL, XANTHAN GUM and TETRASODIUM EDTA in 2.
Fragrance is declared in 3 formulas (60%); parabens and silicones appear in 1 each (20%), and none contains denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Store brands and comparisons
Pharmacy own labels often mirror well-known national brands, such as a 'gentle skin cleanser' – comparing the two INCI lists side by side shows how close they really are. Retailer brands can change suppliers, so check the list again when the packaging changes.
