About Pampers
Pampers is Procter & Gamble's baby care brand, launched in 1961; P&G researchers including Victor Mills and Norma Lueders Baker were involved in its development. Besides diapers and training underwear, the brand sells baby wipes, a business P&G expanded by buying Kimberly-Clark's Baby Fresh wipes in 1996.
The wipe lotion
Baby wipes account for the 7 Pampers products we list – Sensitive, New Baby Sensitive, Aqua soft touch, Fresh Clean and Harmonie Protect & Care among them. The impregnating lotion is consistent: SODIUM CITRATE, CITRIC ACID and SODIUM BENZOATE appear in all 7; DISODIUM EDTA, XANTHAN GUM, PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL and AQUA in 6; SORBITAN CAPRYLATE in 5.
Fragrance is declared in 3 formulas (43%) and silicones in 1 (14%). None contains parabens or denatured alcohol (ALCOHOL DENAT.).
Choosing among wipes
The ingredient list of a wipe describes the liquid it is soaked in, not the fabric. Scented variants such as Fresh Clean list PARFUM, while Sensitive versions are the place to look for fragrance-free lists – check the pack, as most of the products here carry no fragrance flag.
