The product contains too much sodium fluoride (measured value up to 2% by weight). At high concentrations sodium fluoride can cause spots in tooth enamel (dental fluorosis). In moderate to severe fluorosis, teeth are also weakened and suffer permanent physical damage. Chronic over-absorption of sodium fluoride can cause hardening of bones, calcification of ligaments, and buildup on teeth. Excessive intake of sodium fluoride can also be toxic if swallowed, causes serious eye irritation and causes skin irritation.
