INCI name

ACRYLAMIDE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYLTAURATE COPOLYMER

Acrylamide/sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate copolymer

A synthetic thickening polymer covered by an Annex III entry.

What it is

Acrylamide/sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate copolymer is a synthetic polymer of acrylamide and sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate. CosIng lists it as an emulsion stabiliser and viscosity-controlling agent. In the EU it falls under an entry in Annex III (substances subject to restrictions) that concerns polyacrylamides.

Where it is used

Used in creams, lotions, gels and serums.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

See the EU regulation section for the applicable conditions. The label does not show the residual monomer content.

Functions

Emulsion stabilising
