INCI name

ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER

Acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer

A synthetic polymer that thickens and stabilises gels and emulsions.

What it is

This crosslinked acrylic polymer, related to carbomer, thickens water once neutralised and can stabilise emulsions with little or no traditional emulsifier.

Where it is used

Found in gels, gel-creams, serums, sunscreens and hand sanitisers.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

It is a technical ingredient used at low levels; the slash is part of a single INCI name.
