A synthetic acrylic copolymer used to control viscosity.
What it is
Acrylates/palmeth-25 acrylate copolymer is, according to CosIng, a copolymer of an acrylic acid ester of ethoxylated palm alcohol (with 25 moles of ethylene oxide) and one or more monomers of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or their simple esters. CosIng lists it as a viscosity-controlling ingredient.
Where it is used
Found in gels, creams, cleansers, hair care products and other products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The raw material is a polymer mixture rather than a single compound.
Functions
- Viscosity controlling
- Increasing or decreasing the viscosity (thickness) of cosmetics.
EU regulation
This ingredient is not listed in the annexes of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 in the CosIng data.
