An amino-functional organosilane, listed in CosIng as a cleansing surfactant.
What it is
Aminopropyl triethoxysilane is 3-(triethoxysilyl)propylamine, an organosilicon compound with an amino group and three ethoxy groups on the silicon atom. CosIng lists it as a cleansing surfactant.
Where it is used
Found mainly in hair care products, such as treatments and conditioners.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
Alkoxysilanes react with water, so in the finished product it may be present partly in hydrolysed or condensed form.

- Wetting body surfaces, emulsifying or solubilizing oils, and suspending soil (generally, such ingredients contribute to the foaming and lathering properties of cleansing products).
