Ammonium persulfate

An oxidising salt used in hair lightening products.

What it is

Ammonium persulfate is diammonium peroxodisulfate, (NH4)2S2O8, a strong oxidising agent. CosIng lists it as a bleaching and oxidising ingredient.

Where it is used

Found in hair lightening (bleaching) powders, which are mixed with a developer before use.

Limits of interpretation

Functions
