An oil-soluble vitamin C ester.
What it is
Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is the tetraester of ascorbic acid with isopalmitic acid, which makes it soluble in oils rather than water. CosIng lists it as an antioxidant and emollient.
Where it is used
Found in serums, face oils, creams, eye products and sunscreens, often in products presented around vitamin C.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
It is a distinct compound from ascorbic acid; properties of one cannot simply be transferred to the other.
