A natural wax produced by honeybees.

What it is

Beeswax is the purified wax from the honeycomb of the honeybee (Apis mellifera); in the EU it is also labelled as Cera alba. CosIng lists it as binding, emulsion stabilising, fragrance, skin conditioning and viscosity controlling.

Where it is used

Common in lip balms, lipsticks, mascaras, salves, creams and solid cosmetics.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

Beeswax is of animal origin, which matters for products presented as vegan.
