INCI name

BEHENTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE

Behentrimonium chloride

A cationic conditioning agent for hair.

What it is

Behentrimonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound with a long fatty chain. Its positive charge lets it bind to the negatively charged hair surface, reducing static and making hair easier to detangle.

Where it is used

Found mainly in hair conditioners, masks and leave-in hair products.

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
