INCI name

BIS-ETHYLHEXYLOXYPHENOL METHOXYPHENYL TRIAZINE

Bemotrizinol (Tinosorb S)

An oil-soluble UV filter covering both UVB and UVA.

What it is

Bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, also known as bemotrizinol, is an organic UV filter that absorbs across the UVB and UVA range and is considered photostable. In the EU it is listed in Annex VI (allowed UV filters) with a maximum concentration.

Where it is used

Found in sunscreens, day creams with SPF and tinted products with sun protection.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

The SPF and UVA protection depend on the whole formula and its testing, not on the presence of one filter.
