CETEARYL METHICONE

An alkyl-modified silicone used as a skin-conditioning ingredient.

What it is

Cetearyl methicone is a silicone polymer whose siloxane chain carries cetyl and stearyl (C16-18 alkyl) groups and is capped with trimethylsilyl groups. The alkyl groups give it a waxier character than ordinary silicones. CosIng lists it as a skin-conditioning ingredient.

Where it is used

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
