What it is

CI 15985, known as Sunset Yellow FCF, is a synthetic azo colorant giving orange-yellow shades. In the EU colorants may be used only if listed in Annex IV of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.

Where it is used

Found in coloured shampoos, shower gels, soaps, toothpastes and make-up.

Limits of interpretation

Colorant
Exclusively or mainly intended to colour the cosmetic product, the body as a whole or certain parts thereof, by absorption or reflection of visible light; (precursors of oxidative hair colorants shall be deemed colorants). All authorised colorants are substances in the positive list of Annex IV to the Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009.
