A synthetic ester used as an emollient, film former and solvent.
What it is
Di-PPG-3 myristyl ether adipate is a diester of adipic acid with the PPG-3 ether of myristyl alcohol, a fatty alcohol with 14 carbon atoms; the propoxylated chains contain on average three propylene oxide units each. CosIng lists it as an emollient, film-forming, skin-conditioning and solvent ingredient.
Where it is used
Found in a small number of products, such as skin care and makeup products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The degree of propoxylation is an average, so the commercial material is a mixture of molecules of different chain lengths.
