A urethane-linked ethoxylated polymer used to control viscosity.
What it is
Disteareth-75 IPDI is a compound in which two chains of steareth-75 (ethoxylated stearyl alcohol with an average of 75 ethylene oxide units) are joined through isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) by urethane bonds. CosIng lists it as a viscosity-controlling agent.
Where it is used
Found in creams, lotions, gels and hair care products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The number 75 refers to the average degree of ethoxylation, so the raw material is a mixture of molecules.
Functions
- Viscosity controlling
- Increasing or decreasing the viscosity (thickness) of cosmetics.
EU regulation
This ingredient is not listed in the annexes of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 in the CosIng data.
