An oil-soluble UVB filter.
What it is
Ethylhexyl triazone is an organic UV filter that absorbs mainly UVB radiation and is considered photostable. In the EU it is listed in Annex VI (allowed UV filters) with a maximum concentration.
Where it is used
Found in sunscreens and day creams with SPF, usually combined with UVA filters.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
It protects mainly against UVB; UVA protection depends on other filters in the formula.
