GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE

Glyceryl caprylate

An emollient and co-emulsifier that also supports preservation.

What it is

Glyceryl caprylate is an ester of glycerin and caprylic acid. It conditions the skin, helps stabilise emulsions and has antimicrobial properties, so it is often used to boost preservation.

Where it is used

It is not listed as a preservative in Annex V, so products containing it may still be marketed as 'preservative-free'.
