A hard wax made from castor oil.
What it is
Hydrogenated castor oil is castor oil whose fatty acids have been saturated with hydrogen, turning it into a hard, waxy solid. It structures and thickens products.
Where it is used
Found in lipsticks, deodorant sticks, balms and as a thickener in oils.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
It is different from PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, which is a water-soluble solubiliser.
