A hydrogenated form of palm kernel oil, used as an emollient.
What it is
Hydrogenated palm kernel oil is the end product of the controlled hydrogenation of palm kernel oil (Elaeis guineensis kernel oil). Hydrogenation saturates double bonds in the fatty acid chains, which makes the oil firmer and more stable. CosIng lists it as an emollient and skin-conditioning ingredient.
Where it is used
Found in lipsticks, lip balms, creams, soaps and other products with a solid or waxy texture.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The INCI name does not show the degree of hydrogenation.
