HYDROGENATED PALM OIL

Hydrogenated palm oil

Palm oil hardened by hydrogenation.

What it is

Hydrogenated palm oil is palm oil whose unsaturated fatty acids have been saturated by hydrogenation, which makes it firmer. CosIng lists it as an emollient, emulsifying surfactant, skin-conditioning agent and viscosity controlling agent.

Where it is used

Used in creams, balms, lipsticks, soaps and solid cosmetic products.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

The label does not show whether the palm oil comes from certified sustainable sources.
