Sweet almond oil hardened by hydrogenation, used as a skin-conditioning and viscosity-controlling ingredient.
What it is
Hydrogenated sweet almond oil is, according to CosIng, the end product of the controlled hydrogenation of sweet almond oil, from Prunus amygdalus dulcis; hydrogenation saturates the double bonds of the fatty acids and makes the oil firmer. CosIng lists it as a skin-conditioning and viscosity-controlling ingredient.
Where it is used
Appears on the ingredient lists of a small number of products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The INCI name does not show the degree of hydrogenation.
