INCI name

HYDROLYZED RICE PROTEIN

Hydrolysed rice protein

A rice protein broken down into peptides and amino acids.

What it is

Hydrolysed rice protein is obtained by acidic, alkaline or enzymatic hydrolysis of rice and consists mainly of amino acids, peptides and proteins. CosIng lists it as an antistatic, hair-conditioning and skin-conditioning agent.

Where it is used

Found in shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, creams and serums.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

The label does not show the size of the peptides, which depends on how the protein was hydrolysed.
