HYDROXYPROPYLTRIMONIUM HYDROLYZED WHEAT PROTEIN

Hydroxypropyltrimonium hydrolyzed wheat protein

A quaternised wheat protein used for conditioning.

What it is

Hydroxypropyltrimonium hydrolyzed wheat protein is hydrolysed wheat protein chemically bonded to a trimethylammonium group, which gives it a positive charge. CosIng lists it as antistatic, hair conditioning and skin conditioning.

Where it is used

Found in shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, styling products and some skin care.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

The INCI name shows that the protein comes from wheat; the label does not show the degree of hydrolysis.
