A light, fast-spreading emollient.
What it is
Isopropyl myristate is an ester of isopropyl alcohol and myristic acid. It reduces the greasy feel of oils and helps formulas spread.
Where it is used
Found in body lotions, make-up, hair products and some oils.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
Whether an emollient suits a particular skin type depends on the whole formula; the INCI list cannot predict individual reactions.
