ISOPROPYL TITANIUM TRIISOSTEARATE

Isopropyl titanium triisostearate

A titanium compound with isostearic acid chains, used as an emollient and emulsifier.

What it is

Isopropyl titanium triisostearate is an organotitanium compound in which a titanium atom is bound to one isopropoxy group and three isostearic acid residues. CosIng lists it as an emollient and emulsifying surfactant. It is often used to coat the surface of pigments and powders.

Where it is used

Found mainly in foundations, face powders, eyeshadows, lipsticks and sun care products.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

When it is used to coat pigments, it is listed separately on the label even though it is bound to the pigment surface.

Skin conditioning – emollient
Acting as lubricants on the skin surface providing the skin with a soft and smooth appearance.
Surfactant – emulsifying
Helping suspensions or dispersions of liquids in a second liquid by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified.
