INCI name

LACTOBACILLUS FERMENT LYSATE

Lactobacillus ferment lysate

A lysate from a Lactobacillus fermentation.

What it is

Lactobacillus ferment lysate is the lysate of the product obtained by fermentation with Lactobacillus bacteria. CosIng lists its function as skin conditioning.

Where it is used

Found in serums, essences, creams and masks, often in products with a probiotic or microbiome theme.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

A lysate contains broken-down cell material, not live bacteria, and the INCI name does not reveal the strain or the growth medium.
