An amphoteric surfactant derived from lauric acid.

What it is

Lauramidopropyl betaine is an amphoteric surfactant made from lauric acid and dimethylaminopropylamine. CosIng lists it as a cleansing and foam-boosting surfactant, an antistatic agent, a hair- and skin-conditioning agent and a viscosity-controlling agent.

Where it is used

Found in shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps and facial cleansers, usually together with other surfactants.

Maintaining the skin in good condition.
Surfactant – cleansing
Wetting body surfaces, emulsifying or solubilizing oils, and suspending soil (generally, such ingredients contribute to the foaming and lathering properties of cleansing products).
Viscosity controlling
Increasing or decreasing the viscosity (thickness) of cosmetics.
