A cationic keratin derivative used for hair and skin conditioning.
What it is
Laurdimonium hydroxypropyl hydrolyzed keratin is hydrolysed keratin modified with 2-hydroxy-3-(dodecyldimethylammonio)propyl groups, which give the protein fragments a positive charge and a C12 chain. CosIng lists it as an antistatic, hair-conditioning and skin-conditioning ingredient.
Where it is used
Found in shampoos, conditioners, hair masks and other hair care products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The INCI name does not show the animal source of the keratin or the molecular weight of the protein fragments.
