A non-ionic emulsifier and solubiliser.

What it is

Laureth-4 is an ethoxylated lauryl alcohol with an average of four ethylene oxide units. It helps oils and fragrance mix into water-based products and can act as a co-emulsifier.

Where it is used

Found in shampoos, body washes, creams and hair products.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

The number refers to the average length of the polyethylene glycol chain, not a concentration.

Preventing and/or reducing static electricity by neutralising electrical charge on surfaces.
Surfactant – emulsifying
Helping suspensions or dispersions of liquids in a second liquid by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified.
