A natural phospholipid used as an emulsifier and skin-conditioning agent.

What it is

Lecithin is a mixture of phospholipids obtained mainly from soybeans, sunflower seeds or eggs. It helps oil and water mix, softens the skin and can form liposomes that carry other ingredients.

Where it is used

Found in creams, lotions, lip care, make-up and natural-positioned products.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

The INCI name does not say whether lecithin comes from soy, sunflower or egg.
