LINSEED ACID (Linseed acid) – function in cosmetics

A mixture of fatty acids from linseed oil, used in cleansing and emollient roles.

What it is

Linseed acid is the mixture of fatty acids obtained from linseed (flaxseed) oil. CosIng lists it as a cleansing agent, an emollient and an emulsifying and cleansing surfactant.

Where it is used

Found in soaps, cleansers, creams and hair care products.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

The INCI name does not show the exact fatty acid distribution of the raw material.
