A synthetic polyurethane-type crosspolymer, used as an anti-caking agent.
What it is
Methoxy PEG-17/methoxy PEG-11/HDI isocyanurate trimer crosspolymer is, according to CosIng, a copolymer of methoxy PEG-17, methoxy PEG-11 and a trimer of hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), in which the free isocyanate groups are crosslinked by water to form urea linkages. CosIng lists it as an anti-caking agent.
Where it is used
Appears on the ingredient lists of a small number of products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
Functions
- Anticaking
- Preventing agglomeration of particulate solids into lumps or hard masses (cohesive cake), thus allowing free flow of particles.
EU regulation
This ingredient is not listed in the annexes of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 in the CosIng data.
