A water-soluble form of vitamin B3 used in skin care formulas.
What it is
Niacinamide is the amide form of vitamin B3 (nicotinamide). It is water-soluble and stable in typical cosmetic formulas. CosIng lists its function as smoothing.
Where it is used
Common in serums, moisturisers, toners and sunscreens, often combined with humectants and emollients.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
Its position on the label does not tell you the percentage used, and the presence of niacinamide alone does not show that the product is effective.
