An aqueous distillate from rice bran, used as a fragrance.
What it is
Oryza sativa bran water is an aqueous solution of the steam distillate obtained from the bran of rice, Oryza sativa, of the grass family (Poaceae). CosIng lists it as a fragrance and perfuming ingredient.
Where it is used
Found in toners, essences, creams and other skin care products, especially in East Asian cosmetics.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
A steam distillate contains only volatile, water-carried compounds, so its composition differs from that of a rice bran extract.
Functions
EU regulation
This ingredient is not listed in the annexes of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 in the CosIng data.
