A salt of PCA and an arginine-based surfactant, used as an antistatic, moisturising and cleansing ingredient.
What it is
PCA ethyl cocoyl arginate is the salt of PCA (pyroglutamic acid) with the ethyl ester of L-arginine acylated with coconut fatty acids. CosIng lists it as an antistatic and moisturising ingredient and a cleansing surfactant.
Where it is used
Found in shampoos, conditioners, cleansers and other rinse-off products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The INCI name does not reveal the exact fatty-acid composition.
Functions
- Antistatic
- Preventing and/or reducing static electricity by neutralising electrical charge on surfaces.
- Moisturising
- Increasing the water content of the skin and keeping it soft and smooth.
- Surfactant – cleansing
