PEG-3 TALLOW AMINOPROPYLAMINE

PEG-3 tallow aminopropylamine

An ethoxylated tallow-based diamine, used as an antistatic agent and emulsifier.

What it is

PEG-3 tallow aminopropylamine is a propylenediamine carrying a tallow-derived alkyl chain and three hydroxyethyl groups, an ethoxylated fatty amine. CosIng lists it as an antistatic and emulsifying surfactant ingredient.

Where it is used

Appears on the ingredient lists of a small number of products.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

The name refers to tallow, a fat of animal origin; the INCI name does not show the exact chain distribution.

Functions

Antistatic
Preventing and/or reducing static electricity by neutralising electrical charge on surfaces.
Surfactant – emulsifying
Helping suspensions or dispersions of liquids in a second liquid by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified.
