A macrocyclic musk lactone used as a fragrance.
What it is
Pentadecalactone is pentadecan-15-olide, the cyclic ester (lactone) of 15-hydroxypentadecanoic acid. It belongs to the macrocyclic musks and is also known under the trade name Exaltolide. CosIng lists it as a fragrance and perfuming ingredient.
Where it is used
Found in perfumes and scented products, where it contributes a musky note.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
Fragrance ingredients are often listed only as "parfum", so its presence in a perfume blend may not appear separately on the label.
Functions
EU regulation
