A fixed oil from perilla seeds used as a skin-conditioning ingredient.
What it is
Perilla ocymoides seed oil is the fixed oil obtained from the seeds of perilla, Perilla ocymoides (also known as Perilla frutescens), of the mint family (Lamiaceae). It is rich in alpha-linolenic acid. CosIng lists it as a skin-conditioning ingredient.
Where it is used
Found in facial oils, creams, cleansing oils and hair care products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The INCI name does not reveal whether the oil is cold-pressed or refined. Oils rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids are prone to oxidation.
