An ester of phenoxyethanol and caprylic acid.
What it is
Phenoxyethyl caprylate is the ester of 2-phenoxyethanol and caprylic (octanoic) acid. In practice it is used as an emollient ester, but CosIng currently lists no function for it.
Where it is used
Found in creams, lotions, sun care products and makeup.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
It is a different substance from the preservative phenoxyethanol.
EU regulation
This ingredient is not listed in the annexes of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 in the CosIng data.
