A synthetic polyester used as a film former and thickener.
What it is
Polyester-5 is a synthetic copolymer of diethylene glycol, 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and simple esters of isophthalic acid and sulfoisophthalic acid. CosIng lists it as a film-forming and viscosity-controlling agent.
Where it is used
Found in hair styling products, mascaras and nail products.
