A propoxylated sorbitol used as a hair fixative.
What it is
PPG-10 sorbitol is a polypropylene glycol ether of sorbitol, a sugar alcohol, containing on average ten propylene oxide units. CosIng lists it as a hair-fixing ingredient.
Where it is used
Found in a small number of hair styling products, such as gels, mousses and sprays.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The degree of propoxylation is an average, so the commercial material is a mixture of molecules of different chain lengths.
Functions
- Hair fixing
- Permitting physical control of hair style.
EU regulation
This ingredient is not listed in the annexes of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 in the CosIng data.
