A lanolin-derived quaternary ammonium compound used as a hair-conditioning and antistatic agent.
What it is
Quaternium-33 is a quaternary ammonium compound in which lanolin fatty acids are linked via an amide bond to an ethyldimethylaminopropyl group, in the form of an ethyl sulfate salt. CosIng lists it as an antistatic and hair-conditioning agent.
Where it is used
Found in hair conditioners, hair masks and other hair care products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The quaternium number is only a sequential identifier; the INCI name does not show the exact composition of the lanolin acids.
