An oil from the musk rose, used as an emollient and fragrance ingredient, regulated in Annex III.
What it is
Rosa moschata oil is, according to CosIng, the oil obtained from the musk rose, Rosa moschata, of the rose family (Rosaceae). CosIng lists it as an astringent, emollient, fragrance and tonic ingredient. In the EU it is covered by an entry in Annex III (substances subject to restrictions).
Where it is used
Found in a small number of products, such as face oils and scented products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
See the EU regulation section for the applicable limits and conditions. The INCI name does not show which part of the plant was used; rosehip seed oil has its own INCI name.
