INCI name

SODIUM C12-13 PARETH SULFATE

Sodium C12-13 pareth sulfate

An anionic surfactant from the alkyl ether sulfate group.

What it is

Sodium C12-13 pareth sulfate is the sodium salt of sulfated, ethoxylated C12-13 fatty alcohols. CosIng lists it as a cleansing and emulsifying surfactant.

Where it is used

Found in shampoos, shower gels and liquid soaps.

Limits of interpretation

The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.

The name does not give the exact degree of ethoxylation; CosIng gives an average of 1 to 4 units of ethylene oxide.
