An amphoteric surfactant based on cocoa butter fatty acids, used as a cleansing and foam-boosting ingredient.
What it is
Sodium cocoabutteramphoacetate is an amphoteric surfactant: the sodium salt of an amidoamine made from the fatty acids of cocoa butter (Theobroma cacao), carrying a hydroxyethyl and a carboxymethyl group. CosIng lists it as a foam-boosting surfactant, a hair-conditioning ingredient and a cleansing surfactant.
Where it is used
Appears on the ingredient lists of a small number of products.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
The INCI name does not show the exact fatty acid distribution.
