An iron cyanide complex salt used as an anti-caking agent.
What it is
Sodium ferrocyanide is tetrasodium hexacyanoferrate(II), a complex salt in which an iron atom is bound to six cyanide groups. It is also used as an anti-caking agent in table salt. CosIng lists it as an anti-caking agent.
Where it is used
Found in bath salts, salt scrubs and other products containing salt.
Limits of interpretation
The INCI list shows which ingredients are present, not how much of each. Above 1%, ingredients are listed in descending order of weight; below 1% the order is free.
It may be present because it was added to the salt used in the product; the label does not show the amount.
Functions
- Anticaking
- Preventing agglomeration of particulate solids into lumps or hard masses (cohesive cake), thus allowing free flow of particles.
EU regulation
This ingredient is not listed in the annexes of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 in the CosIng data.
