A soap made from olive oil.
What it is
Sodium olivate is the sodium salt of the fatty acids of olive oil, in other words olive oil saponified with sodium hydroxide. CosIng lists it as cleansing, emulsifying, cleansing surfactant and viscosity controlling.
Where it is used
Found mainly in bar soaps, including traditional and handmade soaps, and in some cleansers.

- Wetting body surfaces, emulsifying or solubilizing oils, and suspending soil (generally, such ingredients contribute to the foaming and lathering properties of cleansing products).
- Viscosity controlling
- Increasing or decreasing the viscosity (thickness) of cosmetics.
